Command palette and keyboard shortcuts

Jump to any record or page with one shortcut, and drive lists without the mouse.

The fastest way around yRecurring is the keyboard. One shortcut opens a palette that finds any record or page, and on a list a handful of keys move, select, and open rows without touching the mouse.

The command palette

Press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) anywhere in the app. A search box opens with quick actions ready before you type anything:

  • Create: New customer, New subscription, New invoice, New product, New coupon.
  • Go to: jump straight to Customers, Subscriptions, Invoices, the Catalog, Settings, API keys, and the other main pages.

Start typing to search your records. The palette matches customers by name and email, subscriptions and invoices by number, and shows the top matches for each. Arrow keys move through the results, Enter opens the highlighted one, and Escape closes the palette.

The palette respects roles

The palette only offers what you are allowed to do. Create actions appear only if your role can create that kind of record. If your role has no access to an area, the palette returns no results and no links from it, so it cannot leak names or numbers from a part of the app you cannot open.

Keys on a list

On any list:

Key What it does
j / k Move the highlight down / up
x Select or deselect the highlighted row
Enter Open the highlighted row
/ Jump to the search box
Escape Clear the highlight

Selecting with x feeds bulk actions: run down the list with j, pick rows with x, and archive them all without leaving the keyboard.

Edge cases

  • Keys stay out of your way while typing. Inside a search box, a form field, or an open dialog, the list keys do nothing. They only act when the list itself has your attention.
  • The palette shows the top five matches per type. If what you want is not in the first five, keep typing; a few more letters narrow it fast.
