Slack keeps your team in the loop on billing without anyone watching a dashboard. Connect your workspace, pick the events you care about, and yRecurring posts a clear message to the channel you choose when something happens.

## Connect your workspace

1. Go to Settings, then Integrations, and select Connect on the Slack card.
2. Slack asks you to approve access to your workspace.
3. Approve it. You land back on the connection page, now connected. The connection is named after your workspace; rename it any time with the pencil next to the name.

You can connect more than one workspace if you need to, and you can pause or disconnect a connection at any time from its page. Pausing keeps your settings so you can turn it back on later without redoing them.

## Choose what posts

Nothing posts until you turn it on. On the connection page you pick a default channel, then switch on the events you want:

- New subscription
- Subscription activated
- Subscription cancelled
- Payment received
- Invoice past due
- Payment attempt failed
- Dunning exhausted

Each event you switch on posts to the default channel, or you can give an event its own channel (for example, send failed payments to a billing alerts channel and everything else to a general one). An event you leave off never posts, so turning on one alert does not sign you up for the rest.

## What the messages look like

Messages carry the details, not just a headline. A received payment shows the customer, the invoice number, and the amount, with links straight to the invoice and the customer in yRecurring. A failed payment shows the amount and the reason the card was declined. A subscription event shows the customer and the subscription's status. One glance tells your team what happened and where to look.

## Post to Slack from an automation

The event list above covers the common billing moments. When you want to post on your own terms, use the Notify Slack action in an [automation](/guide/automation/workflow-actions). You choose the workspace and channel and write the message yourself, with merge fields for customer and billing details. It runs only when your automation's conditions match, so you control exactly when it fires. A message sent this way is recorded on the automation's own run history, where you can see it succeed or retry it if it failed, rather than in the connection's Activity list below.

## See what it has been doing

Every connection has an Activity list on its page. It shows each event the integration handled, labelled by what happened ("Payment received", "Invoice past due"), so you can confirm messages are going out and spot anything that failed. Use Send test message on the connection page to post a sample message and check your channel is wired up.
